Car Park QR Code scams

North Yorkshire is experiencing "quishing" scams, this is where fraudsters place fake QR code stickers over genuine ones on parking machines and signs, particularly in the North York Moors and York area car parks. 

Scanning these codes directs users to fake websites that mimic legitimate parking or penalty charge notice (PCN) systems to steal personal and financial details, potentially leading to financial loss or malware infections. 

To avoid this, always check for stickers or tampering on QR codes, especially in public car parks, and if in doubt, use the official website or app instead of scanning the code
